How do I add a subscription?
Tap the lime + button. Start typing a name to pick from 256 built-in services — price, billing cycle and category are filled in for you. Not in the list? Add a custom service with its website, and give it an emoji, colour or photo.
How does screenshot scanning work?
On the add screen, choose “Scan from screenshot” and pick any paywall, receipt or confirmation image. Subtle reads the service, amount, currency, cycle and date entirely on your device and pre-fills the form. Nothing is uploaded.
Is my data private?
Yes. Your subscriptions live on your device and in your own private iCloud database. We run no servers that store your data, there is no account, and this version ships with no active analytics. See the Privacy Policy for the full detail.
Does it sync across my devices?
If you enable iCloud sync in Settings, your subscriptions sync across your iPhone, iPad and Mac through your own iCloud account, end-to-end via Apple. You can switch sync off any time.
Which currencies are supported?
Over 40 currencies. Each subscription keeps its original currency, and totals are converted to the home currency you choose in Settings using exchange rates refreshed once a day.
How do renewal reminders work?
Subtle schedules a local notification before each renewal — choose 1, 3 or 7 days ahead as your default, with per-subscription overrides. Make sure notifications are allowed for Subtle in iOS Settings.
How do cancellation guides work?
Every catalog service has a built-in, step-by-step guide with a time estimate, a difficulty rating and a deep link to the right account page. Subtle never cancels for you — it shows you exactly how to do it yourself.
Is it free?
Yes. This version is completely free with no in-app purchases and no paywall — every feature is included.
Can I export my subscriptions?
Yes. Export a one-page PDF report or a CSV from Settings, and import from CSV to migrate in. You can also import recurring charges detected from a PDF or CSV bank statement, all on-device.
My reminders or sync aren’t working — what should I check?
For reminders, confirm notifications are enabled for Subtle in iOS Settings and that the renewal date is in the future. For sync, make sure you are signed in to iCloud, that iCloud Drive is on, and that sync is enabled in Subtle’s Settings. Still stuck? Email us.
